Unfortunately, to a curious toddler, that chair or pot isn't just furniture, it's a ladder. This is one of the most common oversights we see.
How to Fix It:
Maintain a "Non-Climbable Zone" (NCZ). Most safety codes suggest keeping a 36-inch radius around the outside of your fence completely clear of furniture, toys, ladders, or even low-hanging tree branches. Take a quick walk around your perimeter today. If you see anything a child could use as a foothold, move it! It’s an easy, free way to level up your safety immediately.
2. THE GHOST GATE: FAULTY SELF-LATCHING MECHANISMS
We’ve all been there, you nudge the gate shut with your hip while carrying a tray of drinks, assuming it locked. But did it?
A gate that doesn't self-close and self-latch from any open position is a major safety hazard. Over time, ground shifting or even just standard wear-and-tear can move your gate posts just enough that the latch doesn't quite catch.

- Installing high-decibel door alarms.
- Ensuring screen doors are self-closing and self-latching.
